If you read my first blog post, I mentioned that I started out as a traditional scrap booker quite a number of years ago. Over those years, I amassed many pages that I created for both personal and teaching purposes. I obviously loved traditional scrapping because I kept going with it, although my production levels seemed to dwindle over time, while my shopping cart always seemed to be full of new product.
Never in my traditional scrappers' wildest dreams, did I ever think that I would entertain the idea of taking up digital scrapbooking, but here I am - a hybrid-digital pocket scrapper and wait for it....
I created my first 12x12 pure digital layout!
Last week I had my good friend Sian Barnard come over for a delightful day of digi fun. Sian is the person who got me interested in pursuing hybrid-digital pocket scrapping because of the awesome spreads she had filled her album with. You should check out just how awesome her stuff is on her blog.
Anyhow, we decided that we would push ourselves to create a 12x12 digital layout for the Pimp My Page monthly challenge over at Peppermint Creative. Each month, Miss Mint shares a free 12x12 digital template for her Minty chicks to play with and to then post the page to her websites' gallery. Sian and I downloaded it immediately and set to work on clipping Miss Mint's gorgeous products into the template.
Here is what I came up with.
Miss Mint:
- PMP challenge September template
- Hello Change
- Hello Giggles
- Daily Snip-It's v.02
- Labels & Tags v.01
- LIP Boardwalk Heat jazzers
- DDE Fave Kit embellishments - Gina Cabrera (splat black)
- Juno Designs - Create Your Own Happy kit embellishments (gold staples)
- AYD - May 2014 - black craft alpha
I am really happy with how it turned out and can only see more 12x12 digital pages using templates in my future.
Templates are easy to use and can be as simple or as detailed as you want them to be. Not to mention the fact that they are mess free, which to me signals less time fussing with trimmers and adhesives and more time documenting the story behind the photos ....one of the main reasons for even doing this wonderful thing called scrapbooking.
Be sure to check out Sian's gorgeous 12x12 layouts over at her blog 'Hey There...', and while you are there check out her other posts too ....her blog is a great read! Tell her I sent you.
Thanks for stopping by and until next time ...
